Everytime you throw your used guitar strings in the trashbin, do you feel like it’s a waste of good metal? Well … we do too.

StringSavers is building a community of engaged musicians and musical suppliers with the goal of setting up a recycling program in Europe.

What we offer

We set up a network of recycling points where people can drop off their used strings. We will provide them a with StringSavers collection box and they can send in their full packages for free. The collected strings are then centrally sent to a recycling center.

To fund our program, we are introducing accessible sponsorship programs. For example, musical suppliers can make a small donation of 1 cent for each string they sell, which contributes significantly to the funding of the program.

We create maximum value with minimal resources and all benefits flow back to our community.

Start saving

Collect your used strings in a box and record the weight of the contents on your profile page, and update it as it grows. We will continuously monitor the volume and spread of our joint savings.

We’ll make our world a better place when we recycle our used strings. And when we work together, we can generate enough volume to set up a profitable recycling program. We all benefit by creating return of value for our used strings.

FAQ

What’s the purpose of saving my strings?

First of all, it stops the waste at its source. But it also gives us an indication of how our used strings spread and accumulate in Europe. This is valuable information for our collection strategy.

I don’t change my strings often at all, so why bother joining?

A lot of musicians (maybe even most) don’t change their strings often. That’s not a problem, you are more than welcome to join! We like to encourage all musicans to stop throwing their used strings in the trash.

Whoohoo, I joined … now what happens?

Thats great, thanks! … We start building a large group of supporters by spreading the word. At the same time, we start building the program by putting all things together: recycling points, return shipments, waste management, return of value, etc. The bigger we get, the better it gets. We will keep you updated!

What more can I do?

We are currently still in the starting blocks. The most important thing we can do now is spread the word. If you have any ideas or suggestions (for example promoting us on social media), please let us know.

Can’t I join D’Addario’s Playback program?

Unfortunately Playback is only accessible for U.S. consumers.
